Today I am thankful for my awesome family, fabulous friends and wonderful fiancé. I am forever thankful to have so many amazing people in my life. I also couldn’t be more thankful for finding such a comfortable and perfect-for-us home. 2012 has been the Year of the Condo – searching, buying, moving, getting settled, starting to decorate – and I’m looking forward to loads of entertaining, cooking, and endless signature cocktails!
Later today, I will be utterly thankful for side dishes and pie. Turkey is great, but I am over the moon for the carbtastic sides. I love combining them for the perfect flavor combos. The best is a stack of stuffing, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce. And I could eat pumpkin pie every day for breakfast.
Tomorrow, I will be thankful for the internet and online shopping. The sales are starting to roll into my shopping email inbox and they are looking good. The best thing is cozying up on the couch with a fresh coffee and a laptop to enjoy some fab online sales. There is no in-store deal fantastic enough to entice me to go out in the wee hours of the icy cold morning and wait in line with a bunch of other sleep deprived shoppers! Warm bed and sleep are always better.
A few Black Friday tidbits from me to you.
♥ Check the return policy & process before you click. The magic of Black Friday sales can make people go crazy and you might end up with things you don’t remember buying. Guilty. I love Nordstrom & Piperlime for their free shipping & free returns. They include the return mail label in the box and a potential return couldn’t be easier.
♥ Shopping email account. Get one. It is the best. Start a new Gmail account like *susieshops* or something, then go to every single store website that you love and sign up for their emails. You’ll get emails throughout the year and you’ll even start to see a pattern of exactly when certain stores send out sales. It’s great because you can keep your friend and work emails clear from shopping madness, but indulge in shopping when you are ready.
♥ Have a plan and truly love what you buy. Again, Black Friday is powerful and can make people insane. Buy things that are either on your holiday shopping list and have a recipient in mind or buy things that you absolutely love. Don’t buy a silver sequin dress suited for a Vegas showgirl just because it’s cheap. Guilty. :)
♥ If you miss out on Black Friday deals, there is always Cyber Monday – a whole new set of fabulous and delicious sale emails.
Have a fabulous Thanksgiving and an awesome Black Friday!
