I always have a favorite ‘new discovery’ item from my Birchbox and this tinted shimmery body lotion was it for May. Now that summer is almost here and skin needs to be in fab shape at a moment’s notice, this Miracle Skin Transformer is a great savior when you need a quick fix boost of subtle color or a smoother texture and haven’t had time to self-tan.
I love that it contains SPF 20 and jojoba oil and leaves the skin with just a touch of micro-sparkles for an added glow. I don’t love that the tint stays on the surface of the skin to allow for transfer to anything in its path [read: white sun dresses]. I could still wipe off a significant amount of tint with a white tissue hours after applying, so beware of your summer brights. Because of this, I won’t be adding it into my permanent product rotation, but it’s been fun to play around with as a sample. If you don’t mind this little issue, I think it’s a nice product for making your skin look instantly delicious.
The other treats in the May Birchbox were a lot of fun too. I love the fresh Sugar Rosé Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15 and have the original version in my handbag at all times. The lemony sweet scent is too tasty for words. I have also used the Kiehl’s Abyssine Cream + in the past and I’m glad to now have a travel-ready version of it. It’s a medium weight cream, but I definitely need a richer cream and always love Kiehl’s Creme d’Elegance Repairateur for my uber dry skin. The BVLGARI Omnia Crystalline Eau de Toilette is super sexy and scrumptious and I might just pick up a full size bottle.
I have to say, the Birchbox packaging is really as fun for me as the products inside. The sexy black cardboard box made the pink Birchbox logo really pop and the co-branded Gossip Girl interior box wrap added a fab touch. I don’t watch Gossip Girl, but this box has inspired me to at least tune in for the Season Finale tonight. The theme of the box aims to be Hamptons inspired.
The finishing touch was the notecard shown in hunter green and the front of the card is shown in top photo as background for the Skin Transformer. I adore stationery, so I appreciated this added bonus. The cards are a nice thick weight, but the envelopes are cheap and the edge was torn when it arrived. Ten bucks is really a great deal for notecards of this quality – all you need is a new set of envelopes and you are ready to write your presh heart out.

On a completely random note, I finally ordered a subscription to InStyle magazine. For some reason, this is one I always bought in drugstores or on vacation. I was also ecstatic to learn the InStyle Red by OPI is still available with a paid order since this offer has been around for years. I have a million red polishes, but I don’t have this red and it was only $20 for one year subscription. A polish is usually $10 and 2 issues cost about $10, so no brainer. And I kind of have a magazine addiction, so this only feeds the problem, but it’s like a big glossy present every month.
So, I hope you’ve enjoyed this lovely post. It’s raining here today and I hope it is sunny where some of you are! Have a yummy day. xo♥c
