This is a pure, decadent, cure-all for the holidays. And, most importantly, my early holiday gift to you. At some point you will need this. If you don’t ever get to the point of needing such an indulgent mess, I promise that you will want it.
It’s definitely delectable and low maintenance, in keeping with the theme of the month! All you need is some tasty brie, bread, hazelnut spread [or Nutella], and cayenne [optional]. I used a jar of Noisella from my fave LPQ and some basic brie from Whole Foods. I love the sweet chocolate, rich cheese and spicy cayenne together!
brie + hazelnut chocolate grilled cheese [oh yes]
Brie, at least a quarter pound
Bread, preferably thick from a crusty boule
Hazelnut spread [or Nutella]
Cayenne pepper, optional
Preheat toaster over [or oven] to 350°F. Take a couple slices of bread and cover them with approximately .25″ cut pieces of brie, or thicker. Put cheese-covered bread in heated toaster oven until cheese starts bubbling and becoming golden brown on the edges, about 10-12 minutes.
Pull bread out of oven and smear hazelnut chocolate spread all over the cheese. If desired, sprinkle cayenne over the chocolate. Put the slices back in toaster oven for about 5 more minutes or until chocolate is glistening and hot. Enjoy with your fave cocktail. Lick the plate clean if necessary. xoxo.
